Turf-Seed’s Summer Lawn tall
fescue brand blend. Summerlawn has the combined
strengths of 3 outstanding Turf-Seed varieties,
Summer Lawn is a great choice for
your new, or fall overseeded lawn, wherever
tall fescue is adapted. Summer Lawn is a blend of 3 top-performing
tall fescues developed through the cooperative
Dr. Melodee Fraser at Pure Seed Testing-
East in Rolesville, North Carolina; and the
research team at Pure Seed Testing-West in
Oregon. Summer Lawn brand blend will
include 3 of these tall fescue varieties:
- Tar
Heel
- Silver Star
- Silverado II
Note: Actual varieties and
percentage in mixture included subject to change due to
availability.
All varieties with natural Brown Patch
(Rhizoctonia solani) resistance along with
darker green color, lower growth profile, and
finer leaf blades than Kentucky 31. Brown
patch is one of summer’s toughest problems
in the Southeast and other areas where heat
and humidity will devastate home lawns.
Summer Lawn will help homeowners, parks
managers, and sports field managers maintain
a lush, green turf year-round with fewer
maintenance headaches.

Description:
Summer Lawn brand tall fescue blend
contains varieties selected and bred specifically
for brown patch resistance in an area
where brown patch disease is prevalent. As a
result, Summer Lawn blend displays an
excellent tolerance to brown patch.
Summer Lawn produces a dark green,
moderately low growing, turf-type tall fescue
turf with improved summer performance due
to excellent heat tolerance. Summer Lawn is
widely adapted and has shown very good
persistence in turf trials.
Summer Lawn has shade and wear tolerance
and is ideal for home lawns, parks,
athletic fields, sod production, golf course
roughs and roadside areas where traffic,
trees, and maintenance budgets are a consideration.

Seeding:
After spreading seed at the indicated
rates, cover to a depth of 1/4" and keep moist
until well rooted.
After about 30 days, when seedlings
reach a height of 3", mow back to 2". Limited
use of the area can be expected in about 6
weeks.
Summer Lawn has a medium growth
habit that competes aggressively with weeds
and other species for establishment.Maintenance:
Summer Lawn requires low to medium
nitrogen application with 2-3 Ibs. actual N
per year adequate in most situations.
Summer Lawn thrives at a mowing height of
11⁄2 to 3". Irrigation rates are considerably
less than with ryegrass or bluegrass. |
