PURE GOLD FESCUE

Pure Gold is a dark green, low growing, turf-type tall fescue which is widely adapted and has shown good persistence in turf trials.

Pure Gold tall fescue has good shade and wear tolerance and is ideal for home lawns, parks, athletic fields, sod production, golf course roughs and roadside areas where traffic, trees and maintenance budgets are a consideration.

Seeding:
After seeding at rates listed below, cover to a depth of 1/4" and keep moist until well rooted.

Under ideal conditions, Pure Gold may be harvested in 4 months or less when planted with netting for sod production. One hundred percent Pure Gold is excellent for sod production, and for the first time makes weed-free turf possible without fumigation.

Unsprayed: contaminants are growing. Sprayed: One month after spraying, contaminants are dying. In Oregon trials, glyphosate applications of 4 to to 16 oz. per acre controlled weeds such as Poa annua, annual ryegrass, Poa trivialis, and crabgrass with minimal yellowing and reduced growth of the Pure Gold turf.*

Repeated glyphosate applications may increase the time needed to produce mature sod.

Pure Gold aggressively competes with weeds at establishment, and has a low growth habit for less frequent mowing and clipping removal.

In about 30 days, when seedlings reach a height of 3", mow back to 2". Limited use of the area can be expected in about 6 weeks.

Maintenance:
Pure Gold requires low to medium nitrogen application with 2-4 lbs. actual N per year adequate in most situations. Pure Gold thrives at a mowing height of 1 1/2 to 3". Irrigation rates are considerably less than with ryegrass or bluegrass.

Seeding rates:

Home lawns, parks 7 to 10 lbs./ 1,000 sq. ft.
Sod production, with netting 450 lbs./acre
Golf course roughs 300 - 400 lbs./acre

Glyphosate use:
* Users of this variety must be in contact with Turf-Seed, and follow chemical application directions exactly. --- Phone TurfSeed at 800-247-6910 for  chemical application info.
