About Mow-Less Dwarf Tall Fescue
Mow-Less is a blend of the latest generation of dwarf
tall fescues. Today, Mow-Less is composed of approximately 1/3
each of three improved turf type varieties selected for low
growing characteristics. As newer, improved varieties are developed and
released they will be included in Mow-Less. (Note: Varieties
included in mixture subject to change.)
Establishment of Mow-Less Fescue
Recommended seeding rate is 8-10 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. Cover seed
to a depth of no more than 1/4". Keep seedlings moist until well
rooted.
The first mowing can be expected after 30 days, or when
the grass blades reach a length of 3". Mow back to 2" until turf
is established. Mow-Less will perform well at mowing heights as
low as 1". Limited use of the area can be expected in six weeks.
The components of Mow-Less all contribute dark
blue-green color, heat, drought, shade and insect tolerance...
naturally! Mow-Less has made inroads into areas where tall fescue
has not traditionally been adapted. Is this the start of something
big? We think it's the start of something small... with a big
savings in mowing!
Let's not discount the benefits to our environment and our families by less water usage a
Usage For Mow-Less Fescue BlendMow-Less is blended to become a versatile, sturdy turf ideally
suited for sod production, home lawns, athletic fields, parks,
golf course roughs, industrial campuses, roadside enhancement,
airstrips and campsites.
Tall
fescue, when mixed with 5% improved Kentucky bluegrass makes a luxurious turf for sod production
and home lawns.
Mow-Less appears to be ideal for golf tees where it will stand
the low cut and repair divots with- out reseeding. The components
of Mow-Less have done very well at Hubbard, Oregon for several
years when mowed at 3/8".
Maintenance Of Mow Less Fescue LawnsMow-Less has a low-to-moderate nitrogen requirement with 2-3 lbs.
of actual N per 1,000 sq. ft. adequate in most situations. With
its moderate growth habit, Mow-Less thrives with a 1-1/2 to 2-1/2"
cut. Mow-Less Blend requires significantly less water than
perennial rye-grass and Kentucky bluegrass to maintain a lush,
green vigorous stand.

Dark blue-green
Mow-Less blend stands out against a Southern California
background. Drought and heat tolerant Mow-Less offers
year-around color in areas not before considered possible.
