When combined with elite perennial
ryegrasses, such as BrightStar II and Catalina, and premier
Kentucky bluegrasses, such as Moonlight and Midnight, Florentine
adds fine texture, shade performance and economy of maintenance.
For low maintenance areas, such as golf course
extreme roughs, Florentine mixes well with Tiffany Chewings fescue
and Discovery hard fescue for improved performance, quality, and
drought recovery.
Soil, Climate, and Fertility Requirements
Performing best on irrigated, well-drained
soils with a pH of 5.5 to 7.5, Florentine will withstand moderate
drought conditions and recover rapidly. Best adapted to the cooler
climates from coast to coast, Florentine is best fertilized at an
annual rate of 3 to 4 lbs. of actual N per 1,000 sq. ft. Under low
maintenance conditions, 1 to 2 pounds of N per year is sufficient.
Stand Establishment
Under normal growing conditions, Florentine
requires 7-14 days to germinate and about six weeks to establish
full coverage. First mowing is needed about 4 weeks after seeding,
at a cutting height of 1 to 2 inches.
