Hello nature lover.....!

FINE FESCUES - THE ADVANTAGES:

THE THREE MOST PLANTED
FINE FESCUE TYPES:
HARD - CHEWINGS & CREEPING RED

Fescue.com - Finefescues.com

SHADE:
The Fine Fescues are the most shade tolerant of any lawn grass.  Although several new bluegrasses produce improved quality turf in the shade, they do not compare to the the fine fescues. --- For lawns that are entirely shaded, blends of the fine fescues are recommended.

LOW MAINTENANCE:
The Fine Fescues require less fertilizer and moisture than any of the lawngrasses adapted to the cool or Northern regions of the United States.  Thus they have the lowest overall maintenance requirements.  They are well adapted to poor, sandy soils of low fertility and will tolerate soil acidity within the pH range of 5.0 to 6.5.  --

Fine Fescues thrive where topsoil is thin or where previous farm or landscape practices created acid soils.

Drought tolerance and ease of entry into and recovery from summer dormancy are features of the Fine Fescues.  They are ideally adapted to the cool humid region.

RESEEDING:
Fine Fescues germinate rapidly and establish generally without delay.  Thus they are excellent choices for reseeding thin and rundown lawns.

LAWN SEED MIXTURES:
Fine Fescues are unique among lawngrasses.  They have the finest leaves, the most shade tolerance and the lowest fertilizer and moisture requirements of all cool seasons (Northern) turfgrasses.  In addition they germinate more rapidly than Kentucky Bluegrasses or the Colonial Bentgrasses.  This makes Fine Fescues an ideal selection for inclusion in Bluegrass or Bentgrass mixtures.  They are also an ideal addition to Tall Fescue lawn mixes because of their shade tolerance.

OVERSEEDING SOUTHERN LAWNS:
Fine Fescues may be used for overseeding dormant Southern grasses such as Bermudagrass.
